Director of Soccer Recruitment in the USA, Seamus Reilly, announced two more student/athletes have committed their academic and soccer future to the UDA Soccer Academy at the University of Chester.
Reilly stated, “We know we presently have a solid squad ready for the fall. We have been deliberate and intentional in our recruitment strategy. We have worked with over 60 prospects for the 2018 class and it will be unfortunate that we will not be able to accommodate all who want to attend. However, this lends itself to building the most comprehensive and quality program that can help students have a total university experience. We are delighted to announce we have two more excellent student/athletes joining us in Jack and Myles.”
Jack Ragen is from Terrigal, Australia and a graduate of Division II program Catawba University in Salisbury, North Carolina. Jack is just one of several graduate students joining the UDA Academy this fall. He will be studying International Business at the University of Chester's outstanding new business facility on the campus of Chester. Chester Business School
Also joining the UDA soccer academy will be Myles Williams from Lawrenceville, Georgia who will be studying International Business (Hons).
Why UDA Soccer Academy at Chester?
Jack: “When UDA soccer staff in the USA reached out to my present coaching staff at Catawba, I first overlooked the opportunity and didn't really think much about it. But after I sat down and really looked into the program along with a lengthy chat with Coach Seamus and it seemed a path I couldn't turn it down. It would be an opportunity I would regret later in life had I not considered it”
Myles: “My goal is to continuously gain experience by playing against other professional academies and improve my skills and knowledge of the game. UDA will give me that opportunity”.
Why the University of Chester?
Jack: “The chance to complete my Masters in another country as well as playing football at a high level is an opportunity I am excited and looking forward to. At the University of Chester I will be completing my Masters in International Business, a degree I didn't think I would obtain until later in my career. I am excited to educate myself more about the business world in another country as well as meeting new people in another country who have similar career interests in the business environment.”
Myles: “The degree fits well within my career aspirations as I would like to work in Accounting. This International Business degree at Chester expands my global opportunities and is a great foundation for this field.”
When asked about his playing background, Jack stated, “I played for the “A” League Club Central Coast Mariner's Academy from age 13 through to reserve team. I visited England and France at a younger age of 13 to play football with an Australian touring side against the likes of Aston Villa, West Ham and Fulham. I look forward 10 years on, returning to England to try and pursue my football career whilst studying my Master's in International Business.”
Myles was asked about the recruitment event in Lakewood Ranch in Florida this past January. He stated, “It was great experience to observe the soccer "system" and learn about the coaching staff that I will be working with over the three years at UDA in Chester. I was very impressed!”
Coach Reilly stated, “Having worked with Myles in Lakewood Ranch, Florida in January our coaching staff saw a lot of potential in him. It was not just his love and passion for the game we noticed but how quickly he took on roles we asked of him within game situations.”
Reilly concluded, “We know of Jack’s background and quality knowing the standard of the soccer he is presently coming from – he will add real value to the program and hopefully show his ability with our professional staff as we know he is seeking further opportunities within the game.”
