Orientation for the incoming class of 2019 is set for Sunday, June 16th and Monday, the 17th in Columbus, Ohio.
UDA-UK Soccer Academy Director, Joel Roberts along with UDA-UK welfare officer, Gaynor Crompton and Katy Davenport from the International admissions office at the University of Chester, will be in Columbus to help conduct the event. They will be joined by UDA-US staff.
The event will be split into an arrival orientation, discussing housing, meals, visa and academic degree course work, a welfare session directed by Gaynor Crompton and training and development soccer sessions for the students.
Coach Reilly stated, “The orientation will provide incoming students and families with information that will help ease the transition of students into life at the University and into the soccer academy.”
“Gaynor Crompton will provide families with an outline of what to expect as the students transition into their international experience across the academic and soccer academy. Individual meetings will be set for families to discuss all issues that gives the students a head start on arrival and ready to achieve their potential in the classroom and on the field.”
UK Academy Director, Joel Roberts
UDA Soccer Academy Director Roberts stated, “Last year we ran the orientation in Chester, England and thought this year it would be more beneficial for families if we conduct it prior to arrival in England.”
Roberts added, “ It makes more sense to give families the opportunity to attend an orientation stateside where our students are coming from. It allows families to be fully ready and prepared to ensure the best possible start to the program on all levels”
UDA Welfare Officer, Gaynor Crompton
Katy Davenport, from the University of Chester, will cover information dealing with visa, arrival, housing, meal plans and “academic readiness” for their degree coursework.
